The Taliban governor of Afghanistan’s Balkh province was killed in a blast at his workplace on Thursday, police stated. “Two individuals, together with Mohammad Dawood Muzammil, the governor of Balkh, have been killed in an explosion this morning,” the province’s police spokesman Asif Waziri advised AFP.
He stated it was unclear what brought about the blast.
Muzammil is likely one of the highest-ranking Taliban officers to be killed in such circumstances because the group returned to energy in August 2021.
