Ramallah [Palestine], Nov 10 (ANI): Fatah celebration has introduced Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas as its ‘sole candidate’ for the upcoming presidential ballot within the Palestinian territories.
The announcement was made earlier on Saturday in a gathering held in Ramallah chaired by Abbas’ deputy Mahmoud al-Aloul, reported Xinhua information company.
In response to the official information company WAFA, the assembly referred to as on Abbas to not wait and rush for issuing a presidential decree that may arrange a date for holding the elections within the Palestinian territories.
Nonetheless, the Central Elections Fee (CEC) hasn’t set any dates for the elections but.
The final legislative elections have been held within the Palestinian territories in January 2006, when the Hamas motion received an awesome majority.
Abbas was elected because the chief of the Palestinian Authority within the presidential elections held within the Palestinian territories in January 2005.
Abbas can also be the chairman of Fatah’s Central Committee and the chairman of the Palestine Liberation Group (PLO) Government Committee. (ANI)
