Bangkok [Thailand], Aug 2 (ANI): Key political, financial and safety problems with the Indo-Pacific area had been mentioned through the ninth East Asia Summit (EAS) Overseas Ministers’ Assembly (FMM), stated Exterior Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday.
“On the ninth #EAS FMM, we mentioned key political, financial and safety problems with the Indo-Pacific area. Underlined #ASEAN centrality within the free, open and inclusive regional structure,” he tweeted.
The Minister is at present in Bangkok for a variety of ASEAN-related multilaterals, other than a string of bilateral conferences, together with these together with his Japanese and Vietnamese counterparts, amongst others. He additionally met US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo on the sidelines of the conferences on August 2.
Discussions relating to preparations for the EAS, scheduled to be held in Bangkok on November 4, had been presupposed to be held throughout Friday’s FMM.
“On this context, the Ministers will focus on the implementation of the Manila Plan of Motion (2018-2022) to implement the Phnom Penh Declaration on the EAS Improvement Initiative, adopted by the EAS Leaders in 2012,” the Ministry of Exterior Affairs had acknowledged.
“The Ministers may also deliberate on the present regional and worldwide points and on additional strengthening of the EAS because the area’s distinguished Leaders-led discussion board for dialogue on world political-security and financial points,” they added. (ANI)
