Once I first noticed the trailer for Wicker, I wasn’t positive what to assume…
However audiences in all places are dropping their minds over the romantic fantasy, wherein Olivia Colman performs an eccentric fisherwoman and Alexander Skarsgård performs a person created for her from wicker. A lot so, in truth, that the Hollywood Reporter named it “the horniest, most tender movie of the 12 months.”
Even earlier than seeing it, I already love two issues:
1) A fifty-something feminine character is having unimaginable intercourse, which feels so refreshing. Says Colman: “All of my pals nonetheless very a lot have intercourse lives. I don’t assume you must sew it closed when you get to a sure age.” And I actually had a sexual reawakening in my forties, and so did Kate Baer. Girls of all ages are sexual beings!
2) The male character unabashedly loves his companion. “He desires his companion to thrive and be glad,” Skarsgård tells the New York Instances. “Even when he goes to the bar and hangs out with the opposite guys, he’s sincere about that. He doesn’t fall into the bro banter of, ‘Oh yeah, the outdated ball and chain is again residence.’”
Music to my ears! Normalize males loving their wives!
Comic Phoebe Robinson truly did an unimaginable reel final 12 months about how drained she was of males complaining about their wives. “Give up this nonsense, wives are superb!” she says. “Hating your spouse isn’t a character.”
And this actually made me snicker.
So! Will you see Wicker? The film relies on a quick story by Ursula Wills, which now I’d like to learn, too.
P.S. “What 9 films and reveals with homosexual characters meant to me,” and do you wax your bikini line?
