Canada’s Summer McIntosh wins gold in 200m butterfly at world championships

Canada’s Summer season McIntosh received a gold medal within the girls’s 200-metre butterfly on Thursday on the world aquatics championships in Fukuoka, Japan.

It was McIntosh’s second medal of the meet. The 16-year-old from Toronto received bronze on Wednesday within the 200-metre freestyle after ending fourth in her opening race of the competitors — the 400-metre freestyle.

“I wasn’t going to let it get me down,” McIntosh informed CBC when requested about her opening race.

“I used to be simply actually excited as a result of 200 fly is one among my favorite occasions. I feel it’s all about mindset particularly at these lengthy meets.”

McIntosh completed in two minutes, 4.06 seconds for a world junior report. Elizabeth Dekkers of Australia was second and Regan Smith of the U.S. was third.

McIntosh captured gold within the 200 butterfly finally 12 months’s worlds in Budapest.

The Toronto teen now has three profession gold medals on the world championships. She has six total.

In the meantime, Kylie Masse of La Salle, Ont. was fourth within the girls’s 50-metre backstroke. Ingrid Wilm of Calgary was sixth.
