(Foxton News) — Angel Reese expressed her appreciation Tuesday for the WNBA’s decision to investigate allegations of fan abuse during a recent Chicago Sky game, and praised both the league and her team for standing by her.
The WNBA announced it is looking into reports that the second-year forward was the target of abusive behavior from fans during Saturday’s matchup between the Sky and the Indiana Fever.
“There’s absolutely no room for that kind of behavior in our league,” Reese told reporters during Tuesday’s media session. “But I really appreciate how the WNBA, my team, and the whole organization have supported me.”
Reese noted that she’s received encouragement from across the league since the incident, which has helped her manage the situation as the investigation moves forward.
“It’s definitely not easy, but I’ve got an amazing support system,” the 23-year-old said. “I feel the love from so many people. It’s tough to deal with in the moment, but knowing I’m backed by such strong support makes all the difference.”
She added, “I’ve been through a lot in my life over the past few years. Having the love and backing of this organization and the people around me—it’s something I truly value and can’t take for granted.”
Sky head coach Tyler Marsh commended Reese for the way she’s navigated the situation and maintained her focus on basketball.
“She’s been nothing short of professional,” Marsh said. “Her mind is where it needs to be—on the game. That’s our focus as a team as we prepare for Thursday.”
“Angel is a fighter. She’s driven, she wants to compete, and she’s committed to her teammates,” he continued. “And we’re just as committed to standing by her.”

Marsh emphasized that everyone within the organization fully supports Angel Reese, underscoring the team’s commitment to standing by its players both on and off the court.
“We’re always going to support one another, no matter what challenges we’re facing—personally or professionally,” he said. “That’s the culture we’re building here. It reflects who we are as individuals and the kind of teammates we strive to be.”
Following the reported incident, the WNBA released a statement condemning all forms of hate and discrimination, reaffirming its stance against racism and abusive behavior. The Indiana Fever also confirmed they are cooperating with the league’s investigation.
Indiana’s standout rookie guard Caitlin Clark echoed that message after practice on Monday.
“There’s absolutely no room for that in our sport—or anywhere in society,” said Clark, the 2024 Rookie of the Year. “Everyone who walks into an arena—whether it’s a player or a fan—deserves to feel safe and respected.”
Clark went on to commend the league and her team for their swift response.
“I’m thankful the WNBA is taking it seriously, and I’m proud that the Fever have been proactive since the beginning. We’ll let the league handle the investigation and take whatever action is necessary based on what they find.”
The Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky are scheduled to meet three more times before the regular season concludes.
