Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) claimed Democrats had “momentum” within the upcoming midterm election to beat President Donald Trump’s “persona cult.”
Host Kristen Welker stated, “I do wish to flip to the redistricting battle the place Democrats have confronted, as you realize, Senator, a collection of latest setbacks within the courts. Do you consider that Democrats are in peril of dropping their struggle to win again the Home?”
Van Hollen stated, “I don’t. I feel the Democrats will win again the Home as a result of there’s a lot momentum. Persons are extraordinarily upset, as they need to be, with the truth that, you realize, Trump has dealt with the financial system in a horrible method. Costs are going by the roof. Life is unaffordable for tens of millions and tens of millions of Individuals. He began a struggle that he promised he wouldn’t. And so I feel the momentum may be very a lot there now. Clearly, these selections, together with the newer, you realize, assault on the Voting Rights Act, which was an enormous leap, infamously unhealthy resolution, present some setbacks. However I feel I feel the political winds are blowing strongly sufficient that Democrats will win again the Home.”
He added, “We have to do every thing we will to forestall a continuation of what’s a whole rubber stamp for Donald Trump. You heard Lindsey Graham. He stated, ’That is the celebration of Donald Trump.’ It’s a persona cult. And we’d like checks and balances, not a persona cult, a rubber stamp.”
