Suspect in Fatal Shootings of Minnesota Lawmakers Apprehended
The man accused of carrying out a series of shootings that targeted two Minnesota state lawmakers and their spouses on June 14 has been taken into custody, according to officials speaking to the Associated Press and The New York Times.
Authorities identified the suspect as 57-year-old Vance Boelter. He is accused of fatally shooting Democratic State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, at their home. Boelter is also believed to have shot State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, at their residence, leaving both seriously injured.
According to officials, Boelter fled the scene on foot after police arrived at Hortman’s home in response to reports of gunfire. He was reportedly dressed in a police-style uniform that was nearly indistinguishable from standard law enforcement attire, making it difficult for civilians to detect it was a disguise.
This is a developing story. More details will be provided as they become available.
